The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded Lockheed Martin the
Antarctic Support Contract to provide research support for NSF-sponsored
research in Antarctica. Lockheed will take over operations on 1 April
2012. The initial contract runs for 4.5 years, and could potentially be
extended through 2025.
The contract provides for the support and logistic needs of research
teams across Antarctica, including at NSF's three Antarctic stations.
