Individual Connector ($50 – $99)

Photo by Elizabeth Webb, Courtesy of John Wood (PolarTREC 2011)ARCUS programs have been instrumental in inspiring students and young professionals to become passionate advocates for the dynamic Arctic ecosystem and to pursue Arctic research careers. They have also compelled many established research professionals to connect with new Arctic colleagues and to engage in new Arctic science and research questions. If you or someone you know has a story like this, we hope you will consider joining ARCUS as a member and as an "Individual Connector" and help spark other life-long journeys to understand and champion this special region of the world.

Ecosystem Connector ($1,000 – $4,999)

Hannah Manninen hikes along the Atigun River on the way to Atigun Falls on a day off from field work. Near Toolik Field Station, Alaska. The striking landscapes and ecosystems of the Arctic are unlike any other place on Earth. If you want a little taste of the majesty and mystery of this remote environment, or its people and wildlife, we invite you to visit the ARCUS media library (https://media.arcus.org/). By exploring the images found there, we know you will see what our contributors to the archive see every time they are in the field - a truly remarkable place, undergoing unprecedented change, heralding both the potential and peril that we face as an interconnected planet. By supporting ARCUS' efforts to share what we know - what our community has experienced firsthand - with the wider public, you help us give voice to the unique wisdom of this landscape, the fortitude of its people, and the inspiration of its wilderness.

    Regional Connector ($5000 - $9,999)

David Klein gives his BIOSCOPES webinar to Florida middle-school science teachers.Through Washington D.C. area events - such as the U.S. White House Arctic Science Ministerial side-event highlighting STEM education and citizen empowerment - ARCUS connects officials at the highest levels of government to Arctic experts with the critical information needed to inform strategic decision-making. These events also ensure that Alaskan perspectives, as well as those of other circumpolar nations and people, have the broad and responsive scientific audience that they need to tackle the unique challenges faced by Arctic communities. As a "Regional Connector" your contributions will help ARCUS maintain and strengthen these influential ties between and across scales of Arctic governance, and promote the need for research that improves the lives and livelihoods of the people most invested in the Arctic's future.

    Circumpolar Connector ($10,000 - $24,999)

One of the USCGC Healy's helicopters. There are eight nations that govern the Arctic's 5.5 million square miles (14.5 million km^2). Less than 2 people per square mile inhabit the region. And, for 179 days each year, the Arctic faces a polar night when winter temperatures can drop below -40 °F (-34 °C). In this extreme and isolated world, each and every data point collected is a unique and precious commodity. If you visit ARCUS' Directory of Arctic Researchers (https://www.arcus.org/researchers/search) you can see just how widespread and diverse the guardians of these data remain. As a "Circumpolar Connector" your support leverages the value of the international community's Arctic research enterprise by helping us connect the researchers of our community across boundaries, to share data, and to develop a more complete and holistic understanding of the circumpolar Arctic.

      International Connector ($25,000+)

Tim Martin poses with expedition flags and school flags at Camp El'gygytgyn, Chukotka, Russia. The saying goes "what happens in the Arctic doesn't stay in the Arctic" and this is true. The environmental changes taking place in the Arctic are cueing up to have a tremendous impact on the rest of the world. Sea-levels are rising as Arctic ice sheets melt. Global weather patterns are being impacted as the sea-ice of the Arctic Ocean disappears. And what is happening in the rest of the world... the many decisions that people make in faraway lands… have set events in motion that will forever change what it means to inhabit this remote region. Are we prepared for what is to come? The work of the Arctic research community is giving us a glimpse of the future. It is giving us the precious time we need to prepare a better tomorrow. But galvanizing the rest of the world to react and respond to this fleeting opportunity can be a daunting task at times. It needs heroes and visionaries. As an "International Connector" we invite you to join us in the belief that the power of science - and that the love our community shares for this incomparable place - can truly make a difference.
