The Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) will hold a
Virtual Poster Session webinar on Permafrost on Monday, 7 November 2011
at 7:00 p.m. GMT. You can look up alternate time zones at:

The webinar will feature two keynote speakers:
- Wilfried Haeberli, University of Zurich-Irchel
Alpine Permafrost - Recent State and Ruture
- Goncalo Vieira, University of Lisbon
Permafrost in Polar Regions - Challenges Caused by Climate Change
As well as two poster presenters:
- Ruth Mugford, Scott Polar Research Institute
Validation of the GEOtop Model in a Continuous Permafrost Basin in
the Arctic
- Sina Schneider, Universite de Fribourg
Geophysical Monitoring of Different Permafrost Forms Within the
Murtel- Corvatsch Area, Upper Engadin

Adobe Connect Pro software will be used to conduct the session. The
software requires that Abode Flash Player be installed on participants'
computers. If your computer does not already have Adobe Flash, please

APECS Virtual Poster Sessions focus on bringing the concept of the
poster presentation beyond the four walls of the conference hall, and
creating an online database of polar research poster publications. This
project allows members with similar goals and interests to exchange
information and assures a platform for the exchange of arctic,
Antarctic, and cryospheric research, policy, and education activities
that are shaping the future of polar research.
