The North Pacific Research Board (NPRB) announces the release of its
regular 2012 Request for Proposals (RFP). The full RFP is available by
clicking on the '2012 RFP document' link in the right-hand sidebar at:
http://www.nprb.org/proposals/current_rfp.html.
Funds are available for a total of $4 million. This RFP is similar in
form and content to past NPRB RFPs, with research priorities structured
around the 2005 NPRB Science Plan. Please consult the 2012 RFP and the
NPRB Science Plan for further details on this year's research
priorities.
Proposals must be submitted online in accordance with instructions in
the RFP. The deadline for proposal submission is 4:00 p.m. AKST on
Monday, 12 December 2011.
The North Pacific Research Board (NPRB) was created by Congress in 1997
to recommend marine research activities to the Secretary of Commerce.
Approved research projects are funded through a competitive grant
program using part of the interest earned from the Environmental
Improvement and Restoration Fund. These funds must be used to conduct
research activities on, or relating to, the fisheries or marine
ecosystems in the North Pacific Ocean, Bering Sea, and Arctic Ocean
(including any lesser related bodies of water). NPRB must strive to
avoid duplicating other research activities and must place priority on
research designed to address pressing fishery management or marine
ecosystem information needs. The Board's long-term vision is to build a
clear understanding of the marine ecosystems off Alaska that enables
effective management and sustainable use of marine resources.
Submission deadline: 4:00 p.m. AKST Monday, 12 December 2011.
