NSF's Office of Polar Programs (OPP) seeks qualified applicants for the
position of Deputy Office Head, Office of Polar Programs. The position
will be based in Arlington, Virginia.
The Deputy Office Head is a member of the OPP senior management team,
and as such, provides leadership in developing goals and implementing
plans that respond to current and emerging polar research and education
opportunities. The incumbent participates with the Office Head in
coordinating and managing the activities of the Office and in
representing the Office in discussions with senior officials in the U.S.
and other nations as well as in discussions with members and
representatives of the research and education community in the U.S. and
abroad.
Appointment to this Senior Executive Service position may be on a career
basis or a 1- to 3-year limited term basis, with a salary range of
$155,500 to $172,373. Alternatively, the incumbent may be assigned under
Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) provisions.
