Travel support is available for students to attend the State of the
Arctic Conference, to be held 16-19 March 2010 in Miami, Florida.

The State of the Arctic Conference will be a major milestone for arctic
science by providing an international forum to review the current
knowledge of the arctic system in a time of rapid environmental change
and point to future research, resource management, and policy
directions. Participants will include a diverse and interdisciplinary
group of scientists, students, agency personnel, policy makers,
stakeholders and northern representatives, and media.

The organizers of the State of the Arctic Conference are developing an
exciting program to engage and support students at the conference. In
addition to providing a travel scholarship program, we will also offer a
mentoring program, a networking breakfast, a dedicated "student meeting
room" at the conference, and other activities.

HOW TO APPLY:
To apply for a travel scholarship or to express interest in
participating in other student activities, please go to:
http://soa.arcus.org/logistics/student-scholarship.

To be eligible for these travel scholarships, applicants must be
undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates (must
have graduated within 2009 and be presenting your graduate work at the
conference) who are focused on arctic science, education, policy, or
resource management. U.S. and international students are encouraged to
apply.

Travel scholarship awardees will be selected based on quality of
application and need. The student committee will determine specific
award amounts, up to $2,000 per awardee.

Successful applicants will be expected to: present a poster, participate
fully in the conference sessions, volunteer four (4) hours at the
conference (available volunteer duties are listed in the application),

SPONSORS:
The travel scholarship program is currently sponsored with generous
contributions from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA) and the Arctic Ocean Sciences Board (AOSB) / International Arctic

additional sources of funding.
