19-21 October 2009
Anchorage, Alaska
The International Arctic Fisheries Symposium, set for 19-21 October in
Anchorage at the Hotel Captain Cook, will bring together fisheries
scientists and policy makers from throughout the Arctic for three days
of presentations and discussions on the future of the Arctic Ocean and
adjacent seas.
The goal of this symposium is to initiate international discussions for
conserving and managing future fisheries in the Arctic Ocean. The
symposium will include internationally recognized scientists from
Canada, Norway, Russia, and the United States. Policy and decision
makers, including representatives from indigenous arctic peoples, will
discuss international laws, commissions, and management policies, as
well as future directions in arctic fisheries management. Confirmed
speakers and panelists on the management side include Terje Lobach,
Directorate of Fisheries, Norway; Tomas Heidar, Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, Iceland; Kjartan Hoydal, Northeast Atlantic Fisheries
Commission; Erik Molenaar, University of Utrecht; and David Balton,
Ambassador, U.S. Department of State.

- Call for Session Proposals: Western Pacific Geophysics Meeting 2010

Taipei, Taiwan
The Program Committee for the 2010 Western Pacific Geophysics Meeting
announces a call for session proposals. The meeting will be convened
22-25 June 2010 in Taipei, Taiwan.
Members of the Earth and space sciences community are invited to propose
a session for the meeting. Session proposals must focus on scientific results
and/or their applications. The Program Committee will decline proposals that
are considered to be a tribute or celebratory, or have a focus other than
scientific results.
Session proposals may be edited, modified, or combined at the suggestion
or request of a Program Committee member, and with appropriate
discussion with the convener. Please note that an approved proposal is
not guaranteed an oral session.
Submission Deadline: Friday, 30 October 2009 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
