Organizers of Session PA02, "Providing Climate Policy Makers with a
Strong Scientific Base," announce a call for abstracts. The session will
be convened at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting, 14-18
December 2009, in San Francisco, California.

This session will focus on the interaction between climate change
science and policy. The ever-increasing interest in and awareness of
climate policy issues, especially regarding the polar regions, makes it
more critical now than ever before that policy makers understand the
science behind climate change. The session will highlight innovative
projects in which science helps form policy and focus; explore the
impacts of cooperation between scientists and policy-makers; and discuss
effective strategies to increase politicians' understanding of climate
change.

The organizers of the session welcome contributions from professionals
in various stages of their careers, who will make an active contribution
to the session's presentations and discussion on the chances and
challenges that come with translating scientific findings and
traditional knowledge into climate change policies. The aim of the
session is to create a platform of exchange with room for debate between
young and experienced researchers, policy makers, and science managers.

The abstract submission deadline for this and all other sessions is
Thursday, 3 September 2009, at 11:59 pm Eastern Daylight Time. To submit
an abstract, you must enter the first author's current AGU member ID and
password at: http://agu-fm09.abstractcentral.com/.
