Cultural Resource Consultants LLC (CRC), a 33-year old firm based in
Anchorage, Alaska, anticipates several summer positions for Historical
Architects/Architectural Historians. Employment will be for
approximately three to four months, ending in September 2009.
The positions combine research, fieldwork, and report writing for a
variety of projects. The selected individuals will work with guidance
from the firm's principals, although they will also need to take
initiative to resolve problems and be creative to assure tasks are
completed in the most effective manner. CRC's projects are often
technically challenging and complex; the selected individual must be
able to meet deadlines and work collaboratively with archeologists and
historians.
Specific duties may include:
- Researching historical documents, photographs, plans, drawings, and
related items to collect information about specific historic
structures;
- Preparing historic structure reports documenting existing conditions;
- Assessing the significance of identified resources; and
- Determining the possible effects of projects on significant resources.
This position requires at least a Bachelor's in architecture or historic
preservation and related experience. Previous Alaskan experience is
preferred, but not necessary. Candidates should be proficient in
research and documentation. Strong computer and communication skills are
a must.
Most of the anticipated work will be in Anchorage, although the job may
require overnight travel to other parts of the state. Tolerance for
Alaskan weather and the ability to get along with co-workers is crucial.
