Wednesday, 18 June 2008, is the 5th quarterly International Polar Day,
focusing on "Land and Life." The "Land and Life" theme encompasses a
diverse range of polar science topics, including permafrost, flora,
fauna, and hydrology

This Live from IPY! event, scheduled at 9:00 a.m. Alaska Daylight Time
(7:00 a.m. HDT, 10:00 a.m. PDT, 11:00 a.m. MDT, 12:00 p.m. CDT, 1:00
p.m. EDT, 7:00 p.m. Continental European Time), is a real-time web
seminar featuring presentations and discussion on polar "Land and Life"
science. This public web seminar will feature presentations on:
Permafrost (Vladimir Romanovsky, University of Alaska Fairbanks), Tundra
(Elizabeth Eubanks, St. Mark's Catholic School, Florida, and Steve
Oberbauer, Florida International University), Coastal Erosion (Cameron
Wobus, University of Colorado), and Land and Life in Antarctica (Jenny
Baeseman, McMurdo Dry Valleys LTER Investigator).

Live from IPY! utilizes an Internet platform that supports real-time
online presentations, audio, and chat functions. Events are free and
