The US Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL)
located in Anchorage, Alaska invites applications for an Arctic
Engineer. This position will support engineering and logistics
activities in Polar Regions, solve challenging engineering problems and
guide engineering and scientific field work in remote locations under
austere conditions.
The successful candidate will have broad professional training and/or
experience in cold regions civil engineering. Ability to execute
projects and/or lead multidisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers
is required.
Coordination and oversight of team activities will be essential to
successful project execution. Supervisory projects located in regions
with seasonally and permanently frozen soil may include:
- Building of roadways and runways
- Construction of foundations, pipeline and oilfield infrastructure
- Ice and snow road construction
- Multi-modal transportation systems
- Surface water management
The candidate will be expected to effectively disseminate information
through:
- Technical reports
- Journal articles
- Contract reports on engineering projects
- Presentations at symposia, professional meetings and to stakeholder
groups
