History (IINH) invite applications for a joint tenure-track position in
molecular genetics. UnAk and IINH seek outstanding candidates applying
molecular and/or systems-based approaches to understanding topics in
arctic ecology and systematics. All relevant backgrounds will be
considered, including molecular phylogenetics of arctic flora and fauna,
molecular microbial community analysis in arctic systems, and molecular
ecology of arctic organisms.

Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent, some postdoctoral
experience, a strong publication record, the potential to develop a
vigorous extramurally funded research program, and a commitment to
research and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will be
expected to teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, mentor
postgraduate students, and develop collaborations.

UnAk is part of a vibrant research community of partner institutes
focusing on the sustainable use of arctic natural resources, including
biological systems. UnAk offers interdisciplinary degrees in
biotechnology, fisheries and aquaculture science, and environmental and
energy sciences, as well as research-based postgraduate studies in
natural resource sciences. For more information on UnAk, please go to:

IINH conducts basic and applied research on the nature of Iceland in the
fields of botany, geology and zoology with emphasis in biology on
taxonomy and ecology, maintains scientific specimen collections, and
manages databases on Icelandic nature. The IINH also assembles
literature on the natural history of Iceland, operates the Icelandic
Bird-Ringing Scheme, prepares distribution, vegetation and geological
maps, assists in environmental impact assessments, advises on
sustainable use of natural resources and land use, and assesses the
conservation value of species, habitats and ecosystems. For more
information on IINH, please go to: http://www.ni.is
Both institutes are located on the UnAk campus in the town of Akureyri,
