The University of Alaska Fairbanks invites applications for one or more
postdoctoral positions to conduct modeling studies in two projects
associated with the Bonanza Creek Long Term Ecological Research Program:
1. The Alaska Peatland Experiment (APEX)
2. "Assessing the impacts of fire and insect disturbance on the
terrestrial carbon budgets of forested areas in Canada and Alaska."
The scientist(s) will conduct modeling studies that make use of data
being collected by these projects and that involve the integration of
existing models of vegetation dynamics and biogeochemistry.
A PhD and training in earth system science or biogeochemistry is
required. Applicants must have skills in mathematics, computer
programming, data analysis, and modeling of system dynamics.
Individuals interested in combining research interests in environmental
modeling with interests in ecosystem ecology, vegetation dynamics, soil
dynamics, or hydrology are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Review of
applications will begin 7 May 2008.
