The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) is a committee of
the International Council for Science (ICSU) and is charged with the
initiation, promotion, and coordination of scientific research in
Antarctica. SCAR also provides international, independent, scientific
advice to the Antarctic Treaty system.
