Wilderness Research Foundation invites preliminary expressions of
interest from Earth, biological, and atmospheric scientists conducting
field research in the high Arctic on the triggers and mechanisms of
climate change. Priority will be given to small-scale, land-based
projects focused on, for example, permafrost and vegetation, or
meteorological observations that could contribute to comprehensive
tracking efforts such as the Arctic Observing Network. Wilderness
Research Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization created to
expand the opportunities for scientific field research beyond the
limited regime of government funding.
University-based researchers may submit brief project descriptions (one

A multidisciplinary expedition (4-6 weeks) to southern Axel Heiberg
Island is currently being planned and budgeted. Proposals will be
solicited when funds are available.
