Papers are invited for Session OS15: "Advances in Tools, Techniques, and
Methods for Scientific Drilling" being convened at the American
Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting on 10-14 December 2007 in San
Francisco, California.

Session Description:
This session focuses on tools, instrumentation, services, and
technologies that serve the community for scientific drilling
operations. Potential topics of interest include down-hole sampling and
measurement tools, shipboard experiments, sensors, integrated laboratory
workflow processes, data handling solutions, and other related
developments and facilities. Tools and services may be planned and
developed for or deployed on current and future scientific ocean
drilling vessels Chikyu, JOIDES Resolution, Aurora Borealis, and on
other mission-specific continental or marine drilling platforms. While
session conveners are particularly interested in new developments, they
also welcome information about updates and improvements of existing
systems. Conveners aim to stimulate discussion and the exchange of
concepts between different geoscience and engineering communities and to
make those aware of new or improved instruments, tools, and information
systems. Conveners specifically target a broad audience in order to
develop and foster the joint use of tool and methods across different
programs and platforms and to make potential users aware of new
developments in other fields and organizations.

Conveners especially invite contributions on new or advanced
instrumentation and tools that are capable of operating under polar or
otherwise extreme climatic conditions, or technical contributions
related to the International Polar Year (IPY) 2007-2008.
