The Centre for Ice and Climate at the Niels Bohr Institute, University
of Copenhagen is accepting applications for three postdoctoral positions
(two years) and five PhD student positions (three years). The Centre
seeks applicants with experience relevant to the ice core-related
climate research in greenhouse gases, isotopes, ancient DNA, ice sheet
modeling, and the development of statistical methods. The successful
candidates will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects in
a stimulating and interactive environment and to participate in NEEM,
the International Polar Year deep ice core drilling project on the
Greenland Ice Sheet.

The vision of the Centre for Ice and Climate is to contribute to an
improved understanding of the present and past warm interglacial periods
by studying ice cores and developing models to explain observations and
predict ice sheet response to climate change. Ice cores provide a
comprehensive history of climate with high resolution and document the
full dynamics of the coupled atmosphere-ocean-ice system. The Centre
will lead an international effort in climate research using deep
Greenland ice cores and will make a significant contribution to Danish
International Polar Year activities.
