Session and workshop proposals for the Sixth International Congress of
Arctic Social Sciences (ICASS VI) are being accepted until Monday, 7 May
2007. ICASS VI will be held on 25-29 August 2008 in Nuuk, Greenland.

Proposals should include:
- session/workshop title;
- session abstract (approximately half page);
- estimated number of participants; and
- name(s) and contact information for session/workshop convener(s).

Proposals may be submitted to the IASSA Secretariat at:
E-mail: iassa [at] ilisimatusarfik.gl

ICASS VI has been endorsed as an International Polar Year 2007-2008
(IPY) activity and, since it will be held during the second half of IPY,
the congress will offer venues for scholars, northern researchers, and
local participants to analyze the progress of the international effort
in social, human, and related fields. The congress includes special
project sessions, discussion panels, plenary presentations, public
meetings, and invited talks by leading IPY scientists and
representatives of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic. Sessions and
panels at ICASS VI will be framed along major IPY research fields and
initiatives, with broad international and interdisciplinary
participation. For many international projects with participants from
different countries and regions who may have limited contact
opportunities, ICASS VI sessions will offer a chance for face-to-face
discussions. Special effort will be made to ensure the presence of as
many project collaborators from arctic communities as possible.
