NSF Employment Opportunity, Office of Polar Programs
The National Science Foundation is hiring a Program Director for
Antarctic Biology and Medicine in the Office of Polar Programs.
The (ABM) Program supports research directed at all levels of
organization molecular, cellular, and organismal to communities,
ecosystems and global processes. General responsibilities of NSF
managers are constantly evolving. They include working with U.S.
government agencies, institutions and scientists as well as scientists
from other nations in the development of ABM programs. Recommendations
of funding or declination for research projects, adherence to
appropriate merit review procedures, and panel selection. Develop
long-range scientific projections and goals for the program, lead
off-site planning activities and implement science projects requiring
significant logistical resources. The Program Manager serves on occasion
as the NSF Science Representative in Antarctica.
