A preliminary version of the Arctic System Reanalysis (ASR) project,
ASR-Interim, is now available. The project website can be found at:
http://polarmet.osu.edu/ASR/index.html.
ASR, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), is a project that
blends modeling and observations to provide a high-resolution
description of the atmosphere-sea ice-land surface system of the Arctic.
Gridded fields from the ASR (e.g. temperature, radiation, and winds) can
serve as drivers for coupled ice-ocean, land surface, and other models,
and offer a focal point for coordinated model inter-comparison efforts.
The ASR reconstructs the arctic system's state, thereby serving as a
state-of-the-art synthesis tool for assessing arctic climate variability
and monitoring arctic change.
The ASR-Interim version of the project includes data from 2000-2010 at a
30 km spatial resolution and 3 h time resolution. A 10 km version is
expected to be available in early 2013 and will span 2000-2012.
Additional details, including data information and timeline specifics,
are available at: http://polarmet.osu.edu/ASR/index.html.
