The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University invites
applications for postdoctoral fellowships in the fields of the Earth,
environmental, and ocean sciences. These full-time positions will be
based in Palisades, New York.

Researchers at the Observatory work to understand the dynamics of the
Earth's chemical, physical, and biological systems, from the core to the
upper atmosphere, including Earth's interactions with human society. The
principal selection criteria for Fellows are scientific excellence and a
clearly expressed plan to investigate problems at the forefront of Earth
science. Applications from all related fields are welcomed.

Candidates should have recently completed their PhD or should expect to
complete their degree requirements by September 2016. LDEO is especially
interested in qualified candidates whose record of achievement will
contribute to the diversity of the Observatory's scientific personnel.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) seeks an air quality
specialist / meteorologist. This permanent position will be based in
Anchorage, Alaska.

BOEM Alaska has responsibility for evaluating, leasing and managing
mineral resources on the AK Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). The primary
duties of this position are to provide technical expertise on air
quality and climate change issues; evaluate impacts to air quality from
development projects in the OCS; and interpret/use/review air quality
dispersion models. BOEM seeks a broad range of applicants, ranging from
those with little experience (GS-11 level) to more experience (GS-13
level).

  1. Memorial University seeks Postdoctoral Researcher
    Numerical Modeling

The C-CORE Centre for Arctic Resource Development (CARD) at Memorial
University of Newfoundland seeks a postdoctoral researcher in numerical
modeling. This position is for a fixed term of one year, and will be
based in St. John's, Canada.

The successful candidate will use discrete element modeling to
investigate the formation of sea ice ridges and their interaction with
structures. The position has been established as part of the
Ice-Structure Interaction using Three-Dimensional Discrete Element
Modelling project (ISIDEM3D) and will involve modeling of the formation,
construction, and interaction of sea ice ridges. This position is suited
for those who have strong problem solving skills and experience in
scientific computing, and are self-motivated, excellent communicators,
and interested in the application of science to industry challenges.

  1. Columbia University seeks Staff Associate
    Geodesist
    Palisades, New York

The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University invites
applications for a staff associate. This appointment is for a term of
one year with continuation pending funding and progress, and will be
based at Palisades, New York.

The successful applicant will be involved in the processing and analysis
of spatial reference data from a ground based and airborne ice imaging
system used by the Polar Geophysics Group. The ice imaging system is
used to monitor changing ice sheets, glaciers, and sea ice in the Arctic
and Antarctic regions on sponsored projects. The position will be
responsible for operating the gravity systems in the field, quality
control of the data and produce final data products. The position will
work with both standard gyro-stabilized system and a strap-down IMU
sensor.

Candidates should have a minimum of four years related experience with a
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline within engineering or
science, or 2 years of related experience with a MS degree in Geodesy or
another relevant discipline. Must be able to use ArcGIS. Experience of
working with Inertial Measurement Units (IMU's) and mixing data sets
from GPS receivers and IMU's would be advantageous. Candidate will need
to pass a pre-travel physical exam prior to working at remote locations.
