    ECSA 56 Coastal systems in transition: From a 'natural' to an
    'anthropogenically-modified' state

Organizers of a session titled "Arctic Coasts in Transition" (session
5g) within the ECSA 56 Coastal systems in transition: From a 'natural'
to an 'anthropogenically-modified' state conference announce a call for
abstracts. The conference will take place on 4-7 September in Bremen,
Germany.

ECSA 55 brings together a global multi-disciplinary community of
researchers and professionals to discuss and address issues of
outstanding scientific importance in the science and management of
estuaries and coastal seas in this rapidly changing world. The
organizers of session 5g welcome contributions of a multi-disciplinary
nature linking physical and socioeconomic processes in the Arctic
coastal zone.

Abstract submission deadline: 1 April 2016.

    2016 Polar Geospatial Center Boot Camp
    13-16 June 2016
    Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Polar Geospatial Center (PGC) and the University of Minnesota announce
registration for the 2016 Polar Geospatial Center Boot Camp. This
workshop will take place on 13-16 June on the Twin Cities campus of the
University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The workshop will focus on applications of commercial satellite
imagery for polar science. Instructor-led courses include
Discovering Geospatial Data at the Poles, DEM Extraction from
Stereoscopic Imagery, Georeferencing Maps and Aerial Imagery, and
more. The PGC Boot Camp also hosts visiting speakers and offers
dedicated project work time for one-on-one support from PGC
staff.

Registration Deadline: 16 May 2016.

Organizers announce that registration is available for the inaugural
UArctic Congress 2016. The Congress will be held from 12-16 September in
Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The UArctic Congress 2016 will feature Science and Meeting sections,
including:

-Keynote speakers and scientific experts presenting their
latest research;
-Parallel sessions on an array of Arctic science,
policy, and education topics;
-Formal meetings for representatives of the Board and Council of UArctic
and UArctic Rectors’ Forum;
-Pre-Meetings to foster contacts and enhance networking;
-Opportunities for promoting and marketing your organization and
activities;
-A UArctic Student Forum with workshops; and
-A Cultural and Social program.

The 19th Meeting of the Council of UArctic and the 10th UArctic Rectors’
Forum, as well as a meeting of the Board of Governors of UArctic form an
integral part of the Congress.
