  1. Call for Abstracts
Gordon Research Seminar in Polar Marine Science 2017
    25 March 2017
    Ventura, California

Organizers of the Gordon Research Seminar in Polar Marine Science 2017
announce a call for abstract submissions. The seminar will convene 25
March 2017 in Ventura, California.

Abstract submission deadline: 25 December 2016.

The seminar will mainly focus on innovative marine technology including
autonomous and remotely operated instruments, camera systems, advanced
laboratory techniques, and numerical modeling. Early career scientists
will present data and discuss how these technological advances improve
our physical-biological understanding of polar marine ecosystems.

The meeting will feature approximately ten talks and two poster
sessions. All attendees are expected to actively participate in the seminar
either by giving an oral presentation or presenting a poster. Therefore,
all applications must include an abstract. The Chairs will select
speakers from abstracts submitted by December 25, 2016. Those applicants
who are not chosen for talks and those who apply after the deadline to
be considered for an oral presentation will be expected to present a
poster.

Abstract submission deadline: 25 December 2016.

  1. Call for Registration and Abstracts
2nd Asian Conference on Permafrost 2017
    2-6 July 2017
    Sapporo, Japan

Organizers of the 2nd Asian Conference on Permafrost (ACOP2017) announce
a call for registration and abstract submissions. The conference will
convene 2-6 July 2017 in Sapporo, Japan.

Abstract submission deadline: 31 December 2016.

The conference, hosted by the International Permafrost Association
(IPA), covers all aspects of frozen ground, both permafrost and seasonal
frost, and its related natural and technological topics.

The proposed sessions include: periglacial geomorphology; ground ice
dynamics; mountain permafrost and geohazards; permafrost eco-hydrology;
permafrost mapping and techniques; climate change and the carbon balance
in permafrost; frozen ground physics; frozen ground engineering, Asian
frozen ground; paleo-permafrost; extrazonal permafrost and seasonal
frost; living and working on frozen ground: cultural and historical
significance of permafrost; and outreach/education and history.

Pre- and post-conference field excursions options will be offered,
dependent on the numbers of participants, to the following destinations:
Daisetsu Mountains, Japan; artificially frozen ground sites, Tokyo and
Fukushima-daiichi nuclear power plant; Mongolia; Kamchatka Peninsula;
Northeast China; and Mt Fuji, Japan.

Abstract submission deadline: 31 December 2016.

  1. Call for Workshop Registration
The Future Shape of a Greenland GNSS Observation Network
    24-25 January 2017
    Greenbelt, Maryland

Organizers of a workshop, entitled "The Future Shape of a Greenland
Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Observation Network" call for
participant registration. The one- and one half-day workshop will convene
24-25 January 2017 at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration
(NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.

The goal of the workshop is to define a path forward for a Global
Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) observation network in Greenland.
Such a network already exists in the form of the Greenland network
GNET, a joint U.S./Danish network of GPS receivers. Existing funding for
GNET is drawing to a close, and the future of the network remains
uncertain. This workshop aims to bring the various stakeholders and
potential users of these data together to define the system requirements
and the path forward.

There is no cost for attending this NSF-sponsored workshop, and a
limited amount of travel funding is available for those in need.

Access to Goddard Space Flight Center requires documentation to be
submitted to NASA in advance.

For details about required documentation, go to:
http://neptune.gsfc.nasa.gov/csb/index.php?section=268.

NASA documentation submission deadline: Tuesday, 3 January 2017.

NASA documentation submission for foreign visitors deadline:
Friday, 23 December 2017

Workshop registration is open until filled.
