The North Pacific Research Board (NPRB) is seeking nominations to its
Advisory and Science Panels for 2017. Four seats for the Science Panel
and four seats for the Advisory Panel will become available on 1 June
2017.
Science Panel Qualifications:
The Science Panel advises the Board on science planning and
identification of research priorities, identification and evaluation of
scientific information relevant to the Board's mission, and review of
proposals and technical evaluations received by the Board.
NPRB is seeking Science Panel nominees whose expertise includes:
- Physical, chemical, or biological oceanography;
- Plankton or fish ecology and/or genetics;
- Marine fisheries management;
- Stock assessment modeling; and
- Socioeconomics or social sciences.
Strong candidates will also demonstrate knowledge of pressing fisheries
management issues, research needs, and priorities of state and/or
federal managers. Science panel members serve four-year terms with a
maximum of two consecutive terms.
Advisory Panel Qualifications:
The Advisory Panel represents stakeholders, user groups, and other
interested parties from various regions. Respectively, each of the four
available seats represents the Gulf of Alaska, Bering Sea and Aleutian
Islands, and Arctic ecosystems.
Advisory Panel members advise the Board on accomplishing its mission and
provide meaningful community-level participation throughout the Board's
science programs. Advisory panel members serve three-year terms with a
maximum of two consecutive terms.
