Organizers announce a call for poster abstracts for the 7th Symposium on
the Impacts of an Ice-Diminishing Arctic on Naval and Maritime
Operations. This symposium will bring together nationally and
internationally-recognized experts on Arctic marine operations,
environments, science, policy, law, and governance. It will include
speakers from the Alaska Congressional Delegation, NOAA, the U.S. Navy,
the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Arctic Research Commission (USARC), and
other representatives from the U.S., Arctic nations, and the
international community.
Abstract deadline: 14 July 2017.
Registration deadline: 18 July 2017.
Submissions on Arctic-related topics such as marine transportation,
infrastructure, security, commerce, policy, law, technology, and science
are welcome. Interdisciplinary topics are encouraged.
At a minimum, posters should include author names, affiliations, contact
information, and an abstract. Posters typically contain an introduction,
materials and methods, results, conclusions, references, and
acknowledgments.
Posters will be displayed for the duration of the symposium, and authors
are encouraged to participate in a dedicated poster session on 18 July.

2017 Arctic Energy Summit
18-20 September 2017

Organizers announce a call for registration for the 2017 Arctic Energy
Summit. This three-day conference will focus on a comprehensive set of
themes, including oil and gas; geothermal, solar, wind, hydro and tidal
energy; utilities; microgrids; energy policy and regulation; community
impacts; energy finance and investment; climate change; and energy
security.
Early registration deadline: 15 June 2017.
The Summit is a multi-disciplinary event expected to include
participation from industry officials, scientists, academics, policy
makers, energy professionals, and community leaders to discuss leading
approaches to contemporary Arctic energy issues.
The Summit will include plenary keynote speeches, panel discussions,
breakout sessions, technical presentations, and workshops. Outcomes of
the Summit will include best practices, potential projects, and research
gaps to be delivered to the Arctic Council's Sustainable Development
Working Group.
