The University of Manitoba invites applications and nominations for a Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Arctic sea-ice, freshwater-marine coupling, and climate change. This position will also be appointed to a full-time tenured position at the rank of Professor at the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources within the Centre for Earth Observation Science (CEOS) at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Internationally recognized expertise in the field of Arctic sea ice, freshwater-marine coupling, and climate change as evidenced by a strong publication in high impact journals and the acquisition of national or international peer-reviewed grants and contracts;
- Experience working with freshwater fluxes to the marine system originating from glaciers, rivers, and or sea ice melt;
- Demonstrated excellence in graduate student supervision;
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary research team;
- Demonstrated ability to work within the framework of Arctic System Science; and
- Demonstrated ability to communicate science to a range of stakeholders (e.g., policy makers, northern peoples, public, other scientists).
