Polar Field Services invites applications for the position of Project Manager in Science Logistics Support. This permanent full-time position will be based in Fairbanks, Alaska.
The successful applicant will have excellent organizational abilities and a background in science. This position focuses on science support in and around the North Slope and will be expected to deploy to Toolik Field Station during the summer months to assist with aircraft operations. This position will require weekend work during the field season and it is expected that staff will not take more than one week off at a time during the summer (15 May – 1 September) season.
This position requires occasional travel to small remote field sites and to science meetings, as appropriate, and the ability to occasionally provide assistance with fieldwork, which can include tent camping and rustic facilities. When on travel, employees will sleep in hotels, tents, dorms, or other types of community housing. Working temperatures may exceed -40 degrees Fahrenheit and food may come from restaurants, be self-made, or from a cook. Showers, laundry, and other typical amenities may be restricted or unavailable. Transport may include, but not be limited to, aircraft, trucks, and snow machines.
