Organizers invite abstract submissions for the 1st Tvarminne Polar Microbes Symposium. This symposium will convene 14-17 May 2018 at the Tvarminne Zoological Station in Helsinki, Finland.
This small symposium (40 participants) is intended to provide a unique opportunity to bring together molecular microbial ecologists specialized in different organism groups, share the latest results, and discuss methodological problems and future prospects in the field, including practical international collaboration.
The environmental focus will be on sea ice environments, but research in other cryospheric environments will also be considered for participation. The methods to be discussed will focus on 'omics' techniques, ranging from single cells to metagenomes, but research using additional methods will be considered as well.
Confirmed Plenary Speakers include:
- John Bowman, University of Tasmania, Australia;
- Jenni Hultman, University of Helsinki, Finland;
- Thomas Mock, School of Environmental Sciences, United Kingdom;
- David Thomas, Bangor University, United Kingdom;
