The University of Alaska Fairbanks invites applications for the position of Director of the Alaska Sea Grant College Program. This permanent full-time position may be based in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, or Kodiak, Alaska.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and programmatic oversight for the Alaska Sea Grant College Program.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Identify and pursue additional funding sources to strengthen and expand research, engagement, and education activities;
    • Provide leadership for, and continued development of, the Marine Advisory faculty, including integrating activities statewide;
  • Effectively communicate with academic, industry, and government leaders (tribal, state, and national) and with staff, advisory boards, faculty, educators, agency personnel, and the general public.
  • Advise the Alaska Sea Grant Associate Director of Research in the implementation of the biannual research competition to ensure projects align with Alaska coastal community and stakeholder needs;
    • Ensure program performance through periodic external evaluation;
  • Provide overall leadership for the research, administrative, communication, and extension functions of the Alaska Sea Grant Program, through regular consultation with the management team, including overseeing all operations of the Alaska Sea Grant College Program and managing a total annual budget.

An advanced degree in a field relevant to the Sea Grant mission is required. A terminal degree in a relevant field is preferred.
