The Atmospheric Chemistry and Climate Lab at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) invites applications for a PhD position in global modeling of secondary organic aerosols. This funded, full-time position will be located at UAF in Fairbanks, Alaska
The successful candidate will study secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation from the oxidation of biogenic volatile organic compounds (VOCs). In collaboration with scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory and several universities, this position will help develop a new set of chemical mechanism for biogenic VOC oxidation and SOA formation. This PhD researcher will also use global models and field observations to study how biogenic SOA formation is influenced by anthropogenic activities and its implication for climate radiative forcing.
Applicants with a background in atmospheric chemistry modeling are preferred. This position can start as soon as the summer of 2018.
Interested applications should email a curriculum vitae and a paragraph describing their research interests to Jingqiu Mao.
