The North Slope Borough (NSB) invites applications for an Agency Biologist position. This full-time, permanent position will be located in Utqiaġvik, Alaska.
The NSB is a municipal government encompassing the entire North Slope of Alaska. This position will mostly focus on research, but the successful applicant will also be required to provide advice to North Slope officials on management issues, climate change, development activities, and a variety of technical documents including those related to oil and gas activities.
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in wildlife management, biological sciences, or a related field;
- Two years of wildlife management work experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired skills include:
- A strong background in Arctic ecology, with emphasis on marine animals;
- Field experience in remote locations;
- Experience working with Native peoples and issues;
- Strong collaborative experience;
- Experience in the application of Geographic Information System (GIS) to studies of wildlife; and
- Enthusiasm for living in a remote community.
