Arctic Science Summit Week 2013
The five Working Groups (WGs) of the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) will meet in conjunction with the Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW) 2013 in Krakow, Poland on 13-19 April 2013.
The WGs (Marine, Terrestrial, Atmosphere, Cryosphere, and Human and Social) are the main tool by which IASC performs its activities. WGs identify and formulate science plans, research priorities, encourage science-led programs, promote future generations of arctic scientists, and act as scientific advisory boards to the IASC Council. All WG meetings are open to the public and anyone interested in the meetings can attend as observer. Scientists are invited to submit ideas for international collaborative activities for consideration by the WGs to IASC by 15 March 2013. To submit an idea, please send an email including your name and contact information to: iasc [at] iasc.info. You need not be present at the WG meeting in order for your suggestions to be considered.
IASC is a nongovernmental, international scientific organization. The IASC mission is to encourage and facilitate cooperation in all aspects of arctic research, in all countries engaged in arctic research and in all areas of the arctic region. Overall, IASC promotes and supports leading-edge multi-disciplinary research in order to foster a greater scientific understanding of the arctic region and its role in the Earth system.
