The over arching question is how animals cope with a changing environment basic biology of how environmental signals are perceived, transduced into endocrine secretions that then regulate morphological, physiological and behavioral responses. Diversity of mechanisms is becoming more and more apparent and how these evolved is another intriguing question. I was an Assistant Professor at the Rockefeller University in New York and then spent over 20 years as a Professor at the University of Washington. Currently I am Professor and Endowed Chair in Physiology at the University of California at Davis, and Division Director, Integrative and Organismal Systems, The National Science Foundation.
