Current Research
Dr. Collings program of research focuses on cross-cultural approaches to the study of adult development and aging, paying particular attention to Inuit living in the Central Canadian Arctic. Dr. Collings has worked in the Inuit community of Holman, in the Northwest Territories, since 1992. He has studied the economics of subsistence hunting among young adult men, Inuit conceptions of elderhood and aging, and the role of aging and life course transitions in subsistence participation.
