Current Research

Interpretation of stable oxygen isotope data from the water column. Based on the salinity balance the influence of sea-ice meltwater and brine formation is inferred. Research on the freshwater sources in the Arctic Ocean halocline, the Siberian shelf regions and of deep and bottom waters. Interpretation of planktic foraminiferal data. Research in which way are stable isotopes of the water column reflected in living planktonic foraminifera and how this is reflected in the sediments. Impact of anthropogenic CO2 in the ocean. Research on how modern analogues for paleoceanographic interpretations can be applied.
