DepartmentOrganizationEmailPhoneAddressGraz AustriaBioDDr. Docent Aleksey Sharov (male), PhD degrees in geodesy, geophysics and remote sensing from the Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography (1989, 1998) and Graz University of Technology (with honors, 1997), senior scientist and project leader at the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies, Joanneum Research in Graz. He successfully coordinated 3 and managed 4 EU research projects related with polar remote sensing, ice monitoring and mapping. Dr. Sharov is a PI of 5 ESA and DLR AO projects devoted to joint geometric processing of space-borne interferometric, altimetric and gravity field data. He participated in 7 expeditions to the European High Arctic as an expedition leader / member. Supervisor of 14 diploma works and 3 dissertations, and author of 75 publications and inventions in the area of polar remote sensing. He is a recipient of the M.V.Lomonosov State Award for research efforts in the European High Arctic; was a chairman of “Ice and Snow” sessions at several ESA FRINGE Conferences. Dr. Sharov is a member of the European Geosciences Union and a scientific reviewer for the journals “Remote Sensing of Environment” and “The Cryosphere”.
